Niklas Sundin est un guitariste suédois né à Göteborg le 18 août 1974.

Fan d’Iron Maiden et d’Hallowen, il rentre dans le monde de la musique en vendant et échangeant des cassettes sur la scène underground avant de s’intéresser à apprendre de jouer d’un instrument.
C’est avec ces mêmes amis d’enfance, dont Mikael Stanne, qu’ils décidèrent de créer un groupe, Sepctic Boiler
Influencés par différentes formations, comme Sabbat, Morbid Angel, Kreator, Forbidden, Merciless, Sadus, ainsi que de la musique classique, Niklas et ses amis veulent dès lors créer leurs propres titres.

C’est en 1990 qu’ils enregistrent leur premier démo intitulé « Enfeebled Earth » avant qu’ils décident d’opérer un changement de style, et de nom de groupe, pour renommer le groupe Dark Tranquility.
Le death métal très mélodique de Dark Tranquility sort leur premier album « Skydancer » en 1993, puis continua sur leur lancé avec « The Gallery » en 1995 et « The Mind’s » et 1997, albums de renoms qui leur permettra de faire figure de groupe emblématique de la scène de death metal made in Göteborg, à côté de At The Gates et d’In Flames.

Très actif et créatif musicalement, Niklas possède également des talents de graphiste et fonde Cabin Fever Media en 1999. Son entreprise est spécialisé dans le design et graphismes des pochettes d’albums. Les activités de son entreprise se diversifient par la suite en proposant la création de design pour des t shirt et la création de logo, en plus de divers autres travaux multimédias.

Dès la création de son entreprise cette dernière créera tous les pochettes d’albums et artworks de Dark Tranquility.

Cabin Fever Media est connu pour avoir travailler avec des groupes notables de la scène métal comme Arch Enemy, In Flames, Nightare et Sentenced.

Il crée Laethora en 2005 afin de proposer un death metal plus agressif avec deux albums sorties en 2005 et 2010.

Nous pouvons également voir d’autres amplificateurs sur le making of de  » We Are the Void »,comme un Peavey 6505, un ENGL Powerball et un amplificateur Bugera.

Il est actuellement endorsé par Mayones Guitars & Basses.
